Give your teeth a brilliantly beautiful boost with professional treatment that works without the risk

At Abel, Phan & Associates in Sterling, Virginia, we treat your teeth and gums as a “blank canvas.” Our dentists, Drs Anna Abel and Chuong Phan, can build upon those characteristics that you like and bring out the best in your smile. One of the easiest, most cost-effective ways to boost the brilliance of your appearance is with professional teeth whitening.

The “basics” about brilliantly whiter teeth

Teeth whitening is also known as “dental bleaching” and refers to the process of removing stains even beyond their naturally white color. Your teeth may become dull or stained over time due to habits and diet, from smoking to coffee. Likewise, the natural aging process can cause wear and tear to the white, protective enamel. As enamel thins, the darker dentin layer underneath is revealed. Teeth may appear yellow.

Teeth Whitening
At a young age our teeth are healthy white. But overtime the enamel coating the tooth is so slowly worn down. Causing our teeth to become stained and yellow, which is why teeth whitening is become increasingly popular today. There are a few methods for whitening. They include at home and in office. With in office treatments, you will see faster results, receive the safest treatment for bleaching the teeth, and yield the whitest smile. So, don’t settle for teeth that have become stained from years of coffee drinking, tobacco use, or just aging. Ask your dentist about whitening options that may be right you.

Dentists like Drs Abel and Phan have the combination of advanced training and access to powerful whitening ingredients to remove stains and restore the white teeth that are so associated with health and youthful vigor effectively and safely. In addition, dentists can customize treatments. So, they can minimize the risks associated with sensitivity among those who are more prone to such discomfort. They can also customize treatment to achieve the desired results for each patient. Some patients may want a more dramatic change than others.

Steps toward your goal smile

All teeth whitening procedures at our practice start by confirming that your mouth is healthy. Sometimes, dark spots can be indicative of decay. These and other oral conditions like gum disease or enamel erosion require a restorative treatment rather than a cosmetic service. Depending on your preferences and schedule, you may opt for in-office whitening. We can “paint” on a whitening gel. Your gums and surrounding oral tissues are protected, supporting even whitening and the most comfortable and safe process. Within around an hour, the color of your teeth can be beautifully transformed.

Often, in-office whitening accompanies home whitening. After all, you want to keep those stunning results! Whitening trays are made. The trays are filled with a whitening gel. Once placed in the mouth, these appliances evenly deliver the powerful stain-lifter to the teeth. The trays are made to fit your mouth. So, the results look stunning, and there is no risk of irritation (often associated with one-size-fits-all trays). Just be sure to wear them as directed by your dentist.

It’s also essential to keep up with professional cleanings at our practice. This hygiene service involves not only eliminating harmful bacteria and stubborn plaque; it also removes surface stains to keep your teeth a lustrous shade of white that exudes health.
